Iram Parveen Bilal’s Debut Film JOSH To Be Screened In Mumbai

Internationally acclaimed director Iram Parveen Bilal, the woman whose name inspired the maker of Agent Vinod, Sriram Raghavan, is the first Pakistani director whose debut film “Josh” is going to be featured at Mumbai film festival, one of the most prestigious film festival. The 14th Mumbai Film Festival is being held from 18th October to 25th October, 2012.

Talking about the film Josh, it is actually  a completely fictional story but inspired by the truth of  Khaana Ghar. It is based on a committed schoolteacher Fatima who lives in the gregarious high life of Karachi and searches for a dangerous truth in a feudal village. A renowned Pakistani actress Aamina Sheikh is playing the lead role of Fatima. On the other hand other cast of the film includes Mohib Mirza and Naveen Waqar.

When the director was asked about the theme of the movie, she answered,”Never give up. And also, if we stand united, nothing can beat us. The “we” can be a nation, a family, a group of friends, a village.”

The director also described her first reaction, when she heard about the featuring of the film in festival,” Honored. I have grown up watching and adoring Bollywood. Whilst JOSH is not a Bollywood type of a film, Bombay and its industry have had a special corner in my heart.”
