Ali Zafar’s latest venture into the Indian film industry is all set to tickle the audience’s funny bones by bringing to light the ever-contentious Pakistan-India rivalry. The tremendously talented, emerging director Eeshwar Nivas of De Taali and My Name is Anthony Gonsalves fame brings together renowned and beloved actors like Ali Zafar, Anupam Kher and Kiron Kher in this film, which has been rechristened “Total Siyappa” from its earlier title, “Aman ki Asha”. The film tells a touching and humorous tale of Aman, a Pakistani Muslim boy based in London who falls in love with a Hindu Indian girl, Asha, played by Yami Gautam. The story kicks off with Asha taking Aman home to meet her parents, which marks the beginning of the roller coaster ride of laughter interspersed with heart-rending scenes as a chain of hysterical errors is set into motion.
While remarking about the movie with great enthusiasm, Ali stated that “This is a story that people from both sides of the border will be able to relate to. The trailer is coming out soon and I cannot wait to see how audience from the sister states react to it. The venture is the first of its kind, making it an exhilarating project to work on. I am also excited about it because I have written composed and sang for the soundtrack myself. So now, all my fans who had been waiting for something new finally have the movie to look forward to.” Commenting on the experience garnered, he commented, “It has been fascinating and a great chance to learn new things and perspectives. Also, it was a rewarding experience working with Kiron Kher and Anupam Kher, who play the girl’s parents.” With a star studded cast, a story to kill for, and music by Pakistan’s very own beloved crooner, the film is all set to cause mass excitement.
