[Lahore: 12th October, 2013]: The pioneering Pakistan Fashion Design Council [PFDC] and L’Oréal Paris, the world’s leading beauty brand, presented Day-2 of the third consecutive PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week 2013 – a platform that endeavors to define and present contemporary and traditional Pakistani Bridal fashion and make-up trends, fusing to create the ‘look’ for the bridal season 2013-2014!

The second day of bridal week opened with early evening bridal showcases by Nickie Nina and Sadaf Malaterre followed by late evening shows with collections from Fahad Hussayn, Misha Lakhani and Sonia Azhar with the evening’s finale presented by Ali Xeeshan as summarized below. Make-up for Day-2 of PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week 2013 was done by the creative team at Maram & Aabroo, hair styling by TONI&GUY – Lahore with male models styled by Khawar Riaz.

Indeed the success of PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week has prompted private sector associates to engage the platform to launch new products, marketing campaigns and promotional activities. To that end, this year PFDC’s official bank, Bank Alfalah, are hosts to a custom-designed VIP lounge at PLBW. Leading global courier company FedExGSP Pakistan Gerry’s International are PLBW’s official logistics partner and are also hosting a lounge at the event. In addition to this, FedEx – GSP Pakistan Gerry’s International has collaborated with PLBW participating designer Ali Xeeshan for a one-off piece which was displayed at the FedEx lounge. Diet Pepsi is the official beverage partner for PLBW.

In celebration of its 26 years of publishing, Libas International Magazine Limited, premier lifestyle and fashion magazine that celebrates the achievements of the Asian Subcontinent, are hosting the official black carpet at PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week. Indeed, Libas encompasses the richness and versatility of Pakistani heritage and highlights its relevance in today’s world. playing a pivotal role in promoting the enlightened side of Pakistan.

L’Oréal Paris also created an exclusive make-up look in collaboration with PFDC member designer Fahad Hussayn on Day-2 of PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week in association with the participating Bridal Week style teams of Maram & Aabroo and Toni&Guy – Lahore. In addition to this, L’Oréal Paris hosted a customised Beauty lounge at PLBW where they exhibited a special edition PLBW Bridal Make-Up Kit, which can be used to recreate favourite make-up looks from PLBW 2013, and an Essie Nail Bar where visitors experienced the brand’s acclaimed nail colour range firsthand. L’Oréal Paris also showcased their Revolutionary Revitalift LaserX3 product range at PLBW and hosted a unique laser-installation where Bridal Week patrons were invited to experience complementary product sampling. In continuation of the trend set at the debut PLBW by the brand, L’Oréal Paris also published and shared their signature newsletters on Day-2 of the event.

Early Evening Shows

Bridal Showcase: Nickie Nina

Day-2 of PFDC L’Oréal Bridal Week 2013 was opened by Nickie Nina who showcased their bridal wear collection titled ‘Garden Party’. The collection drew inspiration from the dressing sensibilities of ladies in the pre-World War I era. ‘Garden Party’ featured bridal ensembles designed on a diverse array of fabrics such as chiffon, satin and organza embellished with swarovski crystals and infused in colours such as reds, pastels and other dynamic colours inspired by Persian carpets.

Bridal Showcase: Sadaf Malaterre

Sadaf Malaterre made her PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week debut with an exclusive women’s wear bridal collection that drew inspiration from butterflies, colours and nature. Flowy, feminine and romantic fabrics such as chiffons and nets in a diverse palette were introduced with beaten gold infused with a variety of different colors. The collection laid emphasis on cuts and finish, featuring bridal ensembles with decorative embellishments that fit well.

Late Evening Shows

Bridal Showcase: Fahad Hussayn

The late evening shows began with designer Fahad Hussayn, who showcased his label’s fall/winter 2013 bridal collection titled ‘The Great Mutiny’ at PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week. The bridal ensembles in ‘The Great Mutiny’ portrayed a love story from the feudal lifestyle of the landed aristocracy in Awadh. The collection featured a range of intricate thread embroideries, metallic ribbon work, custom casted chain embroideries paired with traditional zardozi, gota and panni work in vintage finishes. The colour palette varied from subtle shades of nudes & gold to a mutiny of colour with constructed cuts & dramatic volumes that were paired with drapes and metal details. Exclusive make-up looks for Fahad Hussayn’s showcase were created by L’Oréal Paris in collaboration with the participating Bridal Week style teams of Maram & Aabroo and Toni&Guy – Lahore.

Bridal Showcase: Misha Lakhani

The next designer to follow was Misha Lakhani, who showcased a bridal collection titled ‘Bohemian Heiress’ at PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week 2013. The collection was inspired by a journey of the designer through Ottoman Turkey, its threads of many cultures, 17th century old Indian romanticism, jewel tones, and the bohemian heiress who challenges convention yet loves all things traditional. The bridal collection featured intricate designs on fabrics such as French velvet, muslin, net, gold tissue, chiffon, georgette, brocade and karandi. Short coats were set against long kalidars, saris draped on dresses, sheer shirts layered over lengha cholis, kalidars, sheer saris, long coats and angharkas in gold, topaz, amber and lapis to ivory, fawn, saffron and lime palettes. Bohemian Heiress was meticulously crafted using techniques such as applique, vasli, zardosi, ari, marori, block-printing, gota and devore.

Bridal Showcase: Sonia Azhar

Sonia Azhar’s bridal week collection for PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week 2013 was titled ‘Divine Unison’. The collection drew inspiration from the ‘Woman’ herself, particularly the bride who in this role takes on an angelic form of holiness and unearthliness. ‘Divine Unison’ featured an amalgamation of different fabrics which enhanced the textured surfaces of the ensembles, further embellished through stone and thread work. Structured cuts, varied lengths, lesser volume and more linear lines in purple hues were seen that progressed to whites, peaches and emerald greens.

Libas Style Awards

Libas International continued the Libas Style Awards on Day-2, celebrating the best dressed guests at the PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week 2013 black carpet. Anam Mansuri was the recipient of the Libas Style Award on Day-2 of Bridal Week and received a token of appreciation from Sabene Saigol, Editor-in-Chief, Libas International.

Bridal Showcase: Ali Xeeshan Theater Studio

The finale of Day-2 was presented by the Ali Xeeshan Theater Studio who showcased ‘Jaageer – Royal Deluxe Bridal ‘13’, at PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week 2013, marking the label’s third participation at this platform. The collection highlighted the era right after partition, inspired and retrieved from inherited routes and sovereignty, highlighting the timeworn ancestral possessions and assets restored in timeless creations. ‘Jaageer’ was an antiquity of the riches and goods, with ethereal techniques and melodic cuts representing the finesse and feel of royalty. The  collection featured a stirring palette with serene and electrifying hues, fabrics that poured prowess like an empress, aptly demonstrative of the colours of the sub-continent. ‘Jaageer’ featured heirloom pieces, where each piece dug in to the provenance and history of the Thakurain’s and the Rathor’s. The collection showcased both women’s wear and menswear ensembles. Acclaimed actress Humaima Malick was the showstopper for Ali Xeeshan’s fashion presentation.
