When a filmmaker selects a popular subject like Imran Khan, he should know that the anticipation and the expectations of the fans would be sky high. Now a days, when films like Seedling (Lamha) and Waar have changed the trend and introduced some new standards in Pakistani film industry, the upcoming movies should be worthy enough to compete. The news is like the theatrical trailer of Faisal Aman Khan’s long awaited film Kaptaan has been released, but the release date of the movie is still not revealed.
Imran Khan is certainly the most popular national hero alive today in Pakistan. He won the first and only Cricket World Cup for his country in 1992, started and completed tasks like Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre in Lahore after his mother died and most recently is on a mission to clean up Pakistan with his political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf. The film is all about the struggle of Kaptaan ( Imran khan) in doing some of the most unattainable missions.
Kaptaan and his party are completely supporting the movie, while on the other hand there are some critics also, who were criticising the filmmaker and raised questions about poor planning and execution. The support to the movie by PTI has also given oxygen to some questions as if Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf is endorsing the movie?. PTI‘s secretary of information Shafqat Mehmood replied to these rumours and said that there has been no collaboration or funds extended to the film-makers. “I can totally deny this,” Mehmood said.
Anyways, here’s the Theatrical Trailer of Kaptaan, a film based on the life and work of Imran Khan:
