Meesha Shafi, the singer who rocked Coke Studio with ‘Jugni’ alongside Arif Lohar, is to try her luck in Bollywood. That’s right! After being cast in Mira Nair’s film adaption of the book ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’, Meesha is all set to star in a Bollywood flick.
The title of the film is ‘Bhaag Milkha bhaag’ and will star Sonam Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar alongside the Pakistani singer-turned-actress. The film is to be directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra while the production will be managed by Viacom 18. The shooting for the film began in the mid of this year and seeing how often the Pakistani personnel is offered to star in Bollywood films, it will not be a surprise if Meesha Shafi manages to impress across the border with her hidden talent of acting.
A source states, “Meesha, fame of the song Jugni from the Coke Studio Pakistan visited Mumbai last month to shoot for Bollywood movie Bhaag Milkha Bhaag produced and directed by Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra. She will be acting against co-star Farhan Akhtar and Sonam Kapoor in the movie. Meesha arrived in Mumbai in the third week of August and was busy shooting for the movie till the end of the month. During her stay in Mumbai, Meesha also celebrated Eid with her Indian friends.”
